The Vintage Underground is a monthly radio show that uncovers and explores obscure or lesser-known music through the ages, from the folk music of the British Isles and the U.S. to the screaming psychedelic sounds of the sixties and beyond. Live guests from various musical backgrounds will be invited regularly onto the show to perform English-language folk music in their own particular style. The show is broadcast monthly in Vienna on Radio Orange and is hosted by  Marcos John Arrow aka Boxer John (U.K.) and Travis Leggett (U.S.) If you like rare old records, music history and live folk music, this show is really the one for you. The Vintage Underground 15 (Rare 'Ol Soul 'n Blues In A Library of Good: Can You Dig It?)

This month I have invited prolific record collectors and DJs Marco & Georg from "Can You Dig It?" to present some highlights from their record collection and chat a little about the musical history behind those songs.

Our music guests will be "The Good Library", a fantastic and highly original psychedlic group with members from the U.S., Austria and Great Britain. They will perform an epic and unique interpretation of "The House of the Rising Sun" and a highly original version of "Time of the Season" with me joining them on vocals. Enjoy :-)

The Vintage Underground 14 (Not Everyone Is Dylan: Singer/Songwriters of the Sixties and Seventies)

Listen to this show:

On today's show, myself and Travis will introduce you to a bunch of rare and less rare songwriters of the 60s/70s period. The guest spot this month was a bit of a debacle so it was filled by myself and several random guests who accompanied me on a couple of old folk songs.

The Vintage Underground 13 (Travis & The Corncob Scarecrow: An Old Bluesish & Countryish Mixed Bag)

Listen to this show:

There's no strict theme to today's show but most songs are likely to fit into the blues & country genre in some ill-fitting way or another. Expect some super-rare stuff alongside some voices that might be a little more familiar. This month's live guest will be Chilean folk singer Dottore Guzman who will play some beautiful south-American folk and even a Chilean folk song translated into German. To cap the show off, he will sing with one of the show's hosts to see the programme out.

The Vintage Underground 12 (The Vienna Folk Marathon)

Listen to this show:
On New Years Day 2016, a whole bunch of people who were attending The Vienna Folk Marathon were invited to my appartment. The place was crammed with musicians and instruments from all around the world including Israel, Sweden, Denmark, Wales, England, Austria and Chile. Each musician was given a short interview and ask to play spontaneously for The Vintage Underground. This is the result :-)

It was quite difficult to put a name to this episode's theme so the best I can describe it is that we will be introducing sixties and seventies folkish music with something of an old world flavour to it and occasional psychedelic punctuation points. Our guests will be the Austrian band "Wanjo Banjo" who will perform familiar folk songs from England and America that have been translated and interpreted in the lower-Austrian dialect before joining one of the hosts for one last number.
